Beanbasket Design Integration Process
|
Flexibility By Design
Beanbasket’s system is based on extreme flexibility in design. Under our model, the design and
functionality are separate so we can integrate with virtually any look and feel.

Tell Us What You Want
Most of our customers come to us with a brand identity they are looking to maintain.
We’ve gotten their design ideas from HTML/CSS, or a Photoshop image or several URL's with
likes/dislikes on them, or even a pencil sketch on a napkin. We then take that look and
our design/integration team will build a custom web store with seamless Beanbasket functionality.
The look will be consistent across the entire site – home page, landing pages, categories,
items detail pages, content pages, checkout, etc. all built to maintain that brand identity.

How Much Work Is It?
The range of effort required to build a custom site is very wide. Simple site design can take
a few hours while some of our more complex sites can take potentially hundreds of hours. Being
organized and having a good understanding of your audience can make a big difference in streamlining
the timeline and reducing cost. Also remember that complexity is not always just in design. Complex
handling of images (mouse overs, multiple/alternate views, swatches, etc) is usually the biggest
escalator of cost but complex business rules (shipping, cart handling, conditionals, etc.) can also
increase the time required. On any site that is beyond low-end simple, we will do a Scope of Work
which will detail features/functions/design/rules/etc. for this implementation and provide that to
you along with a much tighter estimate of time and go-live schedule.

Need Design Help?
While our team does outstanding work, we often work in partnership with graphic designers on projects.
We are extremely comfortable doing that and have integration documentation that gives them guidelines to
efficiently build the page templates. If a merchant is looking for advanced branding help and haven’t
already engaged a graphic designer we can recommend designers and photographers that we’ve worked with
that understand the eCommerce world and can provide quality design consulting service.

Need To Get Going Right Away?
For customers looking for a quick launch or need an economical startup, Beanbasket has a selection of
pre-integrated templates. Certainly templates don’t offer the flexibility of a custom site but they
do offer a streamlined startup option.

What About Custom Work?
The Beanbasket platform is very robust and most features internet retailers need are already built in.
Additionally new features are being added on a regular basis. Beanbasket Updates are scheduled almost
every month except during the all important Holiday Season code freeze. However we are extremely open to
talking with clients about custom business rules if there is something inside the application that could
be improved. That is how we build a better application. And in the case where those requests have general
applicability we can even do cost sharing depending on timelines, etc. Bottom line is that we are extremely
open to integrating other applications and/or doing custom work - especially when that work adds value and
therefore makes our clients more successful so they open new web stores and we all make more money. That
just makes business sense. We do, of course, charge for our programming and integration services as it is
tough to keep talented people if you don't pay them.
