How to Enable PayPal through Beanbasket
Beanbasket supports PayPal via an integration to their Express API, one of the components of their PayPal Direct product offering. Please review the notes below for information on using (and setting up) PayPal Express in Beanbasket:

  • » PayPal Express provides two types of API authentications mechanisms: 1) API Signature and 2) API Certificate. Beanbasket uses the API Certificate method. The certificate can be retrieved using the instructions posted below. This certificate will need to be provided to Beanbasket Support for proper installation on the server.
  • » You may then complete the PayPal Express settings in Beanbasket by taking the following menu selections: Store Setup/Options > Payment Processing > PayPal Express Settings.

  • » You will be notified once your certificate has been installed by Beanbasket.
  • » At this time all payments done through PayPal in Beanbasket are SALE transactions. This means that all funds will transfer immediately.
  • » The Beanbasket PayPal Express integration requires that the merchant turn off the ability to accept echecks in PayPal.
  • » The Beanbasket/PayPal integration passes not only all required amounts, but will pass the line item details for every purchase as well.
  • » If your customer has applied a valid discount code in your online store, that will be represented in PayPal as a discount item with a line item value that is the negative value of the discount amount.
  • » The order description in PayPal is the Beanbasket order number.
  • » You will need to specify a default shipping carrier and default shipping method prior to use. If you want to offer multiple shipping options to PayPal purchasers you will also need to have your order verification screen updated to present a drop-down list of shipping options that allows them to select a 'non-default' shipping option.
  • » PayPal is integrated with Beanbasket Order Motion interfaces. If the payment was successfully applied the transaction will transmit into Order Motion. Since Order Motion requires billing address information for incoming orders, and PayPal doesn't provide any information to Beanbasket regarding billing address information, the shipping address information is used as the billing address.

How to Signup for a PayPal Account
Setting up a PayPal account is very easy and takes very little time to setup. Follow the steps listed below to receive your API Certificate from PayPal.

Retrieving the API Certificate from PayPal:
  • » Log into your PayPal account.
  • » Click on the 'Profile' link in the upper sub-navigation.
  • » Click on the API Access link under the Account Information heading.
  • » Click on the Request API Credentials link.
  • » Select the radio button next to 'API SSL client-side certificate' and read the API Certificate Terms & Conditions, and check the checkbox next to that as well.
  • » Click on the 'Submit' button.
  • » Print the resulting page which displays the registrant, username, and password. This information you will enter into Beanbasket.
  • » Click on download certificate.
  • » Save the file and forward it to support@beanbasket.com for certificate installation.
  • » Enter the username and password in the Beanbasket PayPal Express settings screen. If the other information is not present, you can use filler data for the other fields, such as 'A' or 'N/A'.
